Event Information

Event overview

Hidden Vale Trail Running Festival is built around two scenic trail laps that are combined to create three different race distances. One lap is approximately 23 km and the second lap is approximately 11 km. Both start and finish at the event precinct.

Combing these two laps into races in different ways allows runners to choose the challenge that best suits their experience and fitness. See below for more details about the race options.

Further down the page you will find more details about the event schedule and useful information about the race precinct, refreshments, mandatory gear and more.

Race Precinct

The address of the event precinct is Hidden Vale Adventure Park, 617 Grandchester Mount Mort Rd, Grandchester QLD 4340.

A race precinct will be set up with portable toilets, the start/finish area, bib collection, rubbish bins, water and electrolytes and additional services.

Please prepare yourself well for the day and make sure you bring all you need for the course, for making yourself comfortable at the race precinct and for bringing all inorganic waste back to the race precinct.

Race Bibs and Timing

Race bibs will be available for collection on race morning from the event precinct. Please refer to the event schedule for collection times for the different races. Race bibs must be worn on the front of your torso and be clearly visible at all times.

Race bibs will be used to identify each participant and for professional timing. Official results will be published on the results page.

Age Limits

  • 11 km: Age 12+ on event day
  • 35 km and 47 km: Age 18+ on event day

Younger runners may be permitted in the 11 km and 35 km races at the discretion of the race director. Please contact the event organisers well in advance if you wish to request an age exemption. In most cases we will require an adult guardian (18+) to accompany younger runners on course at all times and this guardian will be fully responsible for the health and safety of the younger participant.

Cut-Off Times

All participants in the 35 km and 47 km races must complete their first lap (23 km) within 3½ hours. This is to ensure runner safety and that all participants can be supported on course. Runners that have not finished the first lap within the cut-off time may be required to withdraw from the race when they return to the event precinct after their first lap. If you are unsure about your ability to complete the longer distances within the time limits, please consider competing in the 11 km race.

Participant Expectations

Hidden Vale Adventure Park is a private property and used for a range of leisure activities. Please be respectful of the land and facilities and mindful of other park users during your visit. Specifically, we would like to note the following:

  • Participants found littering or vandalising any section of the course will be disqualified from the event. There are no bins on course. Anything you take on the course with you will also come back with you. Rubbish bins will be provided at the event precinct.
  • Participants must remain on the marked courses at all times. Do not follow other paths, leave the paths or take any shortcuts.
  • Drive carefully on local roads and on the property and obey all signs and instructions from marshals and traffic controllers.
  • Please be considerate of other park users and guests of Hidden Vale Adventure Park.

Participant Safety

We have taken considerable care to design courses that are challenging, fun and safe. Many sections are on remote trails, with limited vehicle access. Please:

  • Listen carefully to the race briefing and follow marshal instructions at all times.
  • Make sure you are medically fit to participate and adjust your pace to the conditions on the day (heat, humidity, trail conditions).
  • Look out for fellow runners and notify an official immediately if you or someone else needs assistance.

Course Marking

Hidden Vale Trail Running Festival is a trail event and you are responsible for following the course markings. The courses will be marked using a combination of:

  • Pink and yellow flagging tape on trees, posts and bushes.
  • Arrows (indicating the direction to follow) and crosses (indicating where not to go) at key junctions.

Markings will be more frequent around intersections and less frequent where there is only one obvious trail. Unless otherwise indicated, follow the main trail and keep to the left-hand side where practical.

Compulsory Gear

All runners must carry a minimum of 500 mL of water (bottle or hydration vest) when they start the race. Also make sure to carry any personal nutrition (including but not limited to electrolytes) you may require during the day.

Participants in the 35 km and 47 km races must also carry a charged mobile phone and a compression or snake bandage. We also recommend carrying these items in the 11 km race.

Full gear lists, any additional requirements and information about aid stations will be confirmed in the Runners' Guide.

Refreshments on Course

Water and electrolytes will be available at the race precinct. There will also be an additional water station (water only!) on course. However, no cups will be provided and runners are expected to use their compulsory gear to carry water and any other refreshments they may require during the race.

Competitors who run multiple laps can refresh themselves at the race precinct after each lap. They will also be able to leave personal supplies in a designated area (at their own risk!) or can receive them there from their support crew.

There may be no water available on course for participants of the 11 km race. Of course they will have access to water and electrolytes at the race precinct.

Medical Assistance

Professional first aid will be available at the race precinct. In case of emergency a medic can also be brought to locations on course. However, vehicles may not be able to access the actual trails participants run on, which could cause delays.

Refunds & Transfers

Refunds are generally not available, but transferring a registration to a different person and distance changes may be permitted up until 11:59 pm AEST on 29/04/2026, subject to availability and any applicable admin fees.

Please come back to this page to review possible updates on the transfer procedures. Unless we advise you of a different procedure please, contact us using the form on this website to make any changes to your registration.

Changing to a shorter distance is free, but no money will be refunded.

Changing to a longer distance will require you to pay the difference between the entry fee of the race you transfer to on the day of transfer and what you paid originally.

Transferring the entry to a different runner, requires the new runner to pay an admin fee of $12.

Please be fair and don't sell your entry for more than you originally paid. Anyone found to be profiting off transfers may be asked not to enter our events again.

Cancellation or Postponement of the Event

If the events is unable to go ahead as scheduled due to weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances, you'll be offered the choice of:

  • Transferring to the new date, if the event has been rescheduled,
  • Transferring your entry to another runner (no admin fee) or
  • A refund of the entry fee minus a $12 processing fee.

Note that refunds only apply to payments made directly to Those Guys Events, i.e. not for entries that were transferred to you or any discounts you may have received.

Insurance and Liability

Those Guys Events have public liability insurance for the event, but this does not cover injuries, loss of property or other damage to you or your property in most cases. We strongly recommend you obtain appropriate personal insurance taking into consideration you are taking part in a sporting event which naturally comes with certain risks.
